BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium: Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Jamie Overton penned a heartfelt message for his team and the franchise’s fans after being ruled out of the remainder of the IPL 2026 and also mentioned that he is looking forward to representing the five-time champions next season.
The England cricketer sustained a right thigh injury after CSK’s previous outing at home against Lucknow Super Giants and flew back home, to the UK, on Wednesday night, to get the scans done.

It was later confirmed on Thursday that he had been ruled out when the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side announced Dian Forrester as a replacement player.

“Gutted to be heading home from @chennaiipl at the crunch stage of the tournament! Absolutely loved this year and backing the lads to get it done! Also massive thanks to all the super kings fans for the messages and support. It’s been incredible and I really appreciate the love! Can’t wait for next year already,” Overton wrote in an Instagram post.

Overton’s absence deepens CSK’s injury issues, which are already serious due to the unavailability of Nathan Ellis, Khaleel Ahmed, Ayush Mhatre, Ramakrishna Ghosh, who were all ruled out during the season so far, and the sidelining of MS Dhoni with a calf injury.

The seam-bowling all-rounder,has been a key performer for CSK this season, taking 14 wickets at an average of 17.78, making him their second-highest wicket-taker. His economy rate stood at 8.89. He earned the Player of the Match award after delivering 3-36 in CSK’s five-wicket victory over LSG at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on May 11. His batting ability and contribution of lower-order runs were crucial in stabilising the team.

CSK are still in the playoff contention with 12 points from 11 matches, currently ranked fifth. Led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, the team will aim to improve their standing when they face LSG at the BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Friday, as a victory could see them leapfrog Punjab Kings into fourth place.
